SCGM’s Children Story Book: “Clean Hands, Pure Heart and Beautiful Feet”

We are glad to announce that Singapore Centre for Global Missions (SCGM) has published a Children Story Book on 10 Inspiring Stories of Missionaries from Singapore, entitled “Clean Hands, Pure Heart and Beautiful Feet” by Flora Man and Emily Soh.  The 10 missionaries served in countries as diverse as China and Japan in East Asia to Nepal and Indian sub-continent in South Asia, and from Bolivia in South America to Saipan in the South Pacific.

A Book Launch has been planned for 17 November 2017. This 120-page story book, with full-colour illustrations, is a suitable learning resource for Children Ministry and Sunday School for primary school aged children as well as for their personal reading and learning about God’s calling in life and mission. Parents may use this book for reading and reflection with their children in their family devotional time.

This book is also a follow-up from the National Christian Children Ministry conference in 27-29 April 2017, organized by SCGM in partnership with the 4/14 Window movement, TRAC Board of Children Ministry and the (Anglican) Diocese of Singapore.

The call from Dr Bambang Budijanto, Chairman of 4/14 Window Global Steering Committee and our keynote speaker at the conference, was to sow the vision of discipling children both within the church and without, as we reach and raise leaders for the next generation. We are convinced that the Lord Jesus Christ is calling children to come before Him and will provide them with a glimpse of God’s heart for missions right from a tender age.

Join us at the Book Launch as we celebrate together the call of God to participate in Christ’s Great Commission!

"Reading and Reflection"
study guide
1. Out of the 10 inspiring stories of missionaries sent from Singapore, which story do you like best? Why?
2. Do you agree that God has given children a sense of curiosity and a mind full of imagination? At play, they explore the world they live in. The school, the church and the home can provide wonderful opportunities for children to learn about different people and cultures in the wonderful world God has created.
3. How many types of occupations can you list from the 10 missionary stories? Have you started to think about what you would like to do when you grow up?
4. Can you match the missionaries with their occupations? Whether you are a medical doctor or a dental nurse, a pastor or a teacher, a business leader or a community worker, you can serve God in missions using your special interest, talent and training.
5. It is never too early to wonder about life. Many of the missionaries asked questions even when they were young. Some of them experienced bullying, disappointments, unhappiness and even family problems when they were young. They learnt about the purpose of their lives when they started talking to parents, pastors and teachers in church. Do you talk to your parents and teachers about your hopes and fears?
6. Do you realize that God can use your childhood interests, experiences and education to be a blessing to the people around you? Whether it is learning about science, geography, or enjoying the fishing at the beach or making music, it takes hard work to become good at what you like to do. So work hard, play hard and enjoy your childhood.
