HEARTS AFLAME: DIVINE LIGHT AND GUIDANCE
The Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not want
By ADRIAN CHAN

Being on fire for God will lead one to places less travelled, to where only God our Shepherd has trodden and scouted out before us. To be on fire for God is to rely on God’s pillar of fire, to be comfortable with the tiny light from the lamp unto our feet.
The work that I do marks me out as someone missional but not neatly classified as a missionary by the typical definitions. If you are, like me, on a road less travelled, I hope this meditation will be of comfort to you.
The Lord is my Shepherd
I shall not want.
– Psalm 23:1
The Lord is my Shepherd…..
Who is my shepherd?
Not just anybody
Not a nobody
Not even a somebody
It is the Lord of the Universe Himself –
He is my shepherd
He who died for me –
He is my shepherd
He who reveals Himself to me –
He is my shepherd
He who is good –
He is my shepherd
He who has won the victory –
He is my shepherd
My Shepherd
My urban mind
My cloistered soul
My shrunken heart
cannot grasp
what it means to shepherd
To shepherd is to commit
Completely
To hold nothing back
To give up even one’s life for the flock.
To shepherd is to know
Intimately
To know so well
To be unsurprised by our antics
To shepherd is to tend
Ably
To prosper life-giving health to the flock
To nurture, discipline, care, guide
To shepherd is to be involved
Always
To ever be watchful
To never let the flock stray from his rod and staff
If THE Lord is MY Shepherd,
why should I be in want
Through pain, I shall not want
For you watch over me
Through need, I shall not want
For you provide for me
Through loneliness, I shall not want
For you are with me
The Lord is my Shepherd
I shall not want.
– Psalm 23:1

SCGM 40TH ANNIVERSARY DEVOTIONAL CAMPAIGN
40 FRiends of SCGM have been invited to take part in our 40-Day Devotional Project to help raise funds for SCGM’s 40th Anniversary. Each day starting 20 November 2020 to 31 December 2020, SCGM will publish one devotion written by our 40 FRiends in our FundRaising effort and celebration of God’s goodness and provision over the last 40 years!
Through their devotional reflections, we pray that our FRiends of SCGM40 will bless and encourage many to reflect upon God’s Presence, Protection, Provision, Purification and Power in Missions.
